Our nutrition client is seeking a Head of R&D to lead the innovation and development of health products, with a strong background in formulations and regulatory compliance in the supplement industry. This role will oversee the full product lifecycle, from concept to market launch, while ensuring compliance with global regulatory standards.
Responsibilities:
Product Development:
? Lead the development of new products, from ideation to commercialization.
? Oversee research on emerging trends, ingredients, and technologies.
? Create and optimize formulations for flavor, functionality, and stability.
? Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including marketing and operations, to
ensure successful product launches.
Scientific Research:
? Oversee in-house and collaborative research initiatives focused on health benefits.
? Build partnerships with academic institutions, research organizations, and suppliers.
? Design, oversee, and interpret clinical trials to substantiate product claims for regulatory and marketing purposes.
? Collaborate with external research organizations and clinical teams to execute studies aligned with company goals.
? Ensure all clinical research meets ethical, regulatory, and scientific standards.
? Analyze and apply trial results to support product efficacy and safety claims in compliance with FDA, FTC, and international guidelines.
Quality Assurance:
? Partner with QA team to establish and maintain robust testing protocols to ensure product quality, safety, and consistency.
? Oversee quality assurance strategy for raw materials and finished products.
Regulatory Compliance:
? Ensure all products comply with FDA, GMP, and other relevant regulations for dietary
supplements and functional foods.
? Maintain thorough and up-to-date documentation for all R&D processes and
products.
? Collaborate with internal compliance teams to maintain adherence to supplement regulations across markets.
? Stay updated on global regulatory changes and incorporate them into product
development processes.
Qualifications:
? 10+ years of experience in R&D, with at least 8 years in leadership.
? Strong background in product development and supplement formulation.
? Proven track record of successfully developing and launching innovative health / wellness
products.
? Extensive experience in designing and managing clinical trials.
? Proven ability to translate clinical research findings into actionable product claims.
? Extensive knowledge of FDA, DSHEA, FSMA, and international regulatory standards for supplements and functional foods.
? Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple projects
simultaneously
Education:
Advanced degree in Science, Chemistry, Biochemistry, or related field.
Other Requirements:
? Experience managing patents or intellectual property in product development is a plus.
? Familiarity with global market trends and consumer preferences.
